The 7-step portal flow

  1. Open pmsuryaghar.gov.in → click "Apply for Rooftop Solar"
  2. Register with mobile + DISCOM + consumer number
  3. Choose an MNRE-empanelled vendor from the official portal list (filter by your state / district)
  4. Upload documents (Aadhaar / bill / property / bank)
  5. Submit feasibility request → DISCOM site inspection in 7-14 days
  6. Feasibility approved → installation by the empanelled vendor can begin
  7. Post-install: upload installation report + commissioning certificate → subsidy credited in 30-45 days

Common rejection reasons (and the fix)

  • Name mismatch on bill vs Aadhaar → submit a "name correction" affidavit (₹100 e-stamp)
  • Sanctioned load < proposed kW → file load enhancement request with JVVNL first (₹250 fee, 14 days)
  • Tenant without NOC → upload notarised NOC from owner (PM Solar NGO provides template)
  • Property disputed / under litigation → cannot proceed; sort out the dispute first

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.How much does PM Solar (NGO) charge to guide you on the PM Surya Ghar application?

₹0 — PM Solar is an awareness NGO; all guidance is free.

PM Solar (Solar Awareness Foundation) is an independent NGO. All our services — PM Surya Ghar application guidance, JVVNL net-meter documentation support, post-installation commissioning report guidance — are completely free. The actual system cost is invoiced separately by the MNRE-empanelled vendor you choose for installation.

Q.Can the subsidy be paid directly to the vendor instead of my bank?

No — subsidy is always credited directly to the consumer's bank account by PM Surya Ghar (MNRE).

Under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the central subsidy (₹30,000-₹78,000) is always credited directly to the verified bank account of the consumer whose name appears on the electricity bill. This is non-negotiable and protects you from any vendor-side fraud. The MNRE-empanelled vendor invoices the gross system price up-front and you receive the subsidy 30-45 days later directly from MNRE.
