The household
The Sharma family lives in a 3-BHK HIG-allotment kothi in Mansarovar Sector 7 (pin 302020). With two ACs running through the Jaipur summer, a refrigerator, geyser and an electric two-wheeler, their pre-solar monthly consumption was 780-900 units against a JVVNL bill of ₹6,400-₹7,200.
The decision
After consulting with PM Solar (Solar Awareness Foundation) — an independent solar awareness NGO — the Sharmas understood the PM Surya Ghar eligibility, RREC top-up process, and how to verify a vendor. They then selected an MNRE-empanelled vendor from the official portal list because:
- Vendor is listed on the official MNRE-empanelled portal (no risk of subsidy rejection)
- Tier-1 Waaree mono-PERC panels with 25-year linear performance warranty
- Free NGO awareness call from PM Solar within 24 hours on WhatsApp 80580-55990
- Free guidance on JVVNL net-meter paperwork by the NGO; physical installation by the empanelled vendor
The financials
- System size: 4 kW (8 × 540 W mono-PERC panels)
- List price: ₹2,58,000 (indicative reference rate card)
- PM Surya Ghar central subsidy: ₹78,000
- Net cost: ₹1,80,000
- 5-year EMI at 9% pa via SBI Solar Loan: ₹3,737/month
The outcome (3 months post-commissioning)
- Monthly generation: 540 units (average across Jul-Sep 2026)
- JVVNL bill dropped to: ₹420 (just the fixed charge + a few peak-hour units)
- Net monthly cash flow: ₹6,800 − ₹420 − ₹3,737 EMI = +₹2,643 / month even during loan tenure
- After loan closes (Year 5): pure savings of ₹6,400+/month for the next 20 years
Replicate it
If your monthly JVVNL bill is ₹5,000-₹8,000 in any HIG Jaipur colony, a 4 kW system on a 350-500 sq ft RCC terrace is the highest-ROI configuration. Book a free site survey on WhatsApp.
