The Singhvi household

Mr. Anil Singhvi, a senior advocate, owns a heritage 3-storey bungalow near Statue Circle, C-Scheme (pin 302001). The 5,200 sq ft built-up property houses a joint family of 7, runs 5 split ACs + 1 central, 2 EVs (Tata Nexon EV + Hyundai Kona), an outdoor pool circulation pump, and a home theatre.

The challenge

JVVNL bill: ₹13,800-₹14,500/month (consumption 1,400-1,550 units). C-Scheme heritage zone has strict JDA visibility rules — panels must not be visible from the main road.

The solution

After consulting PM Solar (Solar Awareness Foundation, NGO) on JDA heritage NOC and PM Surya Ghar eligibility, an MNRE-empanelled vendor designed a low-tilt 10 kW array on the rear-facing third-floor terrace (700 sq ft shadow-free), invisible from Bhagat Singh Marg. JDA NOC processed in 21 days.

JDA heritage NOC process — how to navigate it

For C-Scheme + Civil Lines heritage installations:

  1. Submit JDA NOC application with site photos + low-tilt mount design (your MNRE-empanelled vendor will prepare the technical drawing)
  2. JDA architect review (typically 14-21 days)
  3. Approval issued
  4. JVVNL net-meter application proceeds in parallel

PM Solar (Solar Awareness Foundation, NGO) provides free guidance on the JDA NOC documentation, vendor selection from the MNRE-empanelled list, and JVVNL paperwork. Installation itself is carried out by the MNRE-empanelled vendor selected by the customer.

> "We were told rooftop solar wasn't feasible on a heritage property in C-Scheme. After getting free guidance from PM Solar (NGO) on JDA heritage NOC and selecting an MNRE-empanelled vendor from the official list, within 6 weeks we had the JDA NOC, the JVVNL net-meter, and a fully commissioned 10 kW system that's invisible from the road." — Anil Singhvi, C-Scheme
